Welcome to the Mental Health Innovation Network (MHIN). We’re a community of mental health innovators - researchers, practitioners, policy-makers, service user advocates, and donors from around the world - sharing innovative resources and ideas to promote mental health and improve the lives of people with mental, neurological and substance use disorders.
MHIN aims to facilitate the development and uptake of effective mental health interventions by:
- Enabling learning
- Building partnerships
- Synthesizing and disseminating knowledge
- Leveraging resources

How MHIN works
MHIN is a network for the global mental health community to communicate and share knowledge, experiences and resources to improve the quality and coverage of care. Users sign up to become MHIN members and contribute actively to the site.

MHIN aims to create a space for you to engage with and learn from other members. There are many ways to get involved with MHIN and contribute your skills, share your resources and join key debates.
Get involved with the network
MHIN’s core team is based at the Centre for Global Mental Health at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine and WHO’s Department for Mental Health and Substance Abuse. Under the leadership of Professor Vikram Patel and Dr Shekhar Saxena, our multi-disciplinary group supports MHIN’s members to get the most out of the network.
Meet our team
MHIN is jointly led by the Centre for Global Mental Health (CGMH) at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, and the World Health Organisation’s (WHO) Department for Mental Health and Substance Abuse. Our work is funded by Grand Challenges Canada. Each partner brings leadership expertise relevant to the overall goals of MHIN.
