Consultancy on Mental Health in Bangladesh

ADD is looking for consultant…. is this you? ABOUT ADD INTERNATIONAL For over 30 years ADD International has been supporting some of the world’s most remarkable disability activists working on the frontline of discrimination. We give them and their organisations the tools and resources to build powerful movements for change; and we make sure their voices are heard by global leaders and people with the power to make real change. We have offices in Sudan, Uganda, Tanzania, Bangladesh, Cambodia and the UK, a staff team of approximately 100 people and a turnover of over £3m. Further information on ADD can be obtained by visiting the website at www.add.org.uk

THE OPPORTUNITY ADD started working in Bangladesh in 1995. At the time we were working with a handful of dedicated, exceptional disabled people. With limited resources, the growth of the disability movement since then has been phenomenal, due to the commitment and determination of disability activists. We now work with activist groups in more than 25 of the 64 districts of Bangladesh, covering nearly one third of the country on issues ranging from inclusive employment, education, disaster preparedness, among other things.

We recently began a four-year project on Community Based Mental Health Services. The project, which began in June 2020, will benefit 5,500 children, adolescents and youth, particularly girls, young women and those with other disabilities, who are experiencing or are at risk mental health issues in underserved, remote, disaster-prone communities in Khulna Division and Dhaka City Corporation. To help us with this work we are looking for someone to provide expert advice to the project team in Bangladesh, sharing global learning and feeding the project’s learning into global best practice on mental health.

Applicants from South Asia, particularly Bangladesh, will be prioritised.

Candidates with a disability are particularly encouraged to apply and as a ‘disability confident employer’ ADD guarantees to interview all disabled candidates who meet the minimum criteria.
