We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a recent graduate to gain experience with the Mental Health Priority Team. This is a two-year placement starting in September 2019.

About us

The Wellcome Trust is a global charitable foundation dedicated to improving health. It supports bright minds in science, the humanities and the social sciences, as well as education, public engagement and the application of research to medicine. Our priority areas take on big health challenges such as Drug Resistant Infection and Mental Health. We tackle these challenges by establishing very clear agendas where we want to see, can lead, and will hold ourselves accountable for, change. Our Mental Health Priority Area (MHPA) is creating a super-science of mental health capable of transforming outcomes for those with mental health difficulties: starting with depression and anxiety in youth.

The role

You will support the Programme Manager in the day to day running of the MHPA, providing operational and administrative support for the team and supporting and delivering on projects such as partnerships, research projects, conferences and monitoring and reporting mechanisms.

This two-year placement is a unique opportunity where you will be involved in a priority area from the very beginning giving you the experience of working within a fast-moving and changing start-up. You will be working across teams throughout Wellcome and with external stakeholders. This opportunity gives you the chance to develop and carve out your role and gives you access to the relevant training.

In order to apply you should:

  • Be educated to degree level (or equivalent) with a 2.2 or above
  • Have graduated from your undergraduate or Master's degree in 2018 or 2019
  • If you have a Master's, the gap between undergraduate and Master's degree must be no more than two years
  • Be creative and willing to work in experimental ways
  • Be comfortable with change and ambiguity and confident enough to work relatively independently to define and deliver your own work
  • Have the ability to work well using your own initiative and as part of a team
  • Have the ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders including academics & those with lived experience.
  • Have a demonstrable interest in mental health
  • Have experience with project management

In order to apply for this role please complete our online application form. If you require any support or have any questions please contact Natalie Hannan at n.hannan@wellcome.ac.uk.

Those who submit a strong application form will be invited to complete a short task and we will be holding an assessment centre as the final stage of the process towards the end of July.
