The MINDS Foundation: Experiences from a Mental Health NGO in India

India was one of the first country's to develop a national mental health policy. However, over the past 30 years there has not been much success with implementation with only 127 districts focusing on implementation out of 626 in the country. There is also approximately 1 psychiatrist per 300,000 people.

Dr Appasani discusses the following topics during this webinar:

  • Healthcare disparities between urban and rural populations and those with high and low socioeconomic status
  • Putting policy into action
  • Stigma, education and training
  • How to improve access to care
  • Task-shifting
