Global Mental Health Lab at Teachers College (GMH Lab @ TC)

The Global Mental Health Lab at Teachers College, Columbia University, directed by Lena Verdeli, Ph.D, MSc, aims to reduce the burden of mental illness and increase wellbeing through training, research, and services on cultural adaptation and rigorous evaluation of psychotherapy strategies.

Summary of relevant work

Created in 2008, the Global Mental Health Lab educates and mentors the GMH masters students at Teachers College (Global Mental Health and Trauma MA concentration); assists in building capacity in mental health treatment skills among researchers and practitioners in low-resource settings (we have projects in India, subSaharan Africa, Haiti, Colombia, Abu Dhabi, etc); and promotes awareness and acceptance of mental health conditions and services on a local, regional, and governmental level in Low and Middle Income Countries (LMICs). The Lab is also affiliated with the Columbia University Global Mental Health Program (Education Leadership Committee).
