Mental Health Commission
The Mental Health Commission was set up in March 2010 with Australia’s first Mental Health Commissioner. It is a key step in implementing mental health reform and places Western Australia with the international leaders in mental health service delivery such as Canada, Scotland and New Zealand.
We are responsible for policy, planning and purchasing of services which is unique in established mental health commissions worldwide. However, we do not provide direct mental health services.
Our vision is a Western Australia where everyone works together to encourage and support people who experience mental health problems and /or mental illness to stay in the community, out of hospital and live a meaningful life.
