Imam Sadr Foundation (ISF)

Imam Sadr Foundation (ISF) is championing the development and empowerment of women in Lebanon through evolving and innovative social services addressing the most disadvantaged and vulnerable groups.

Mission statement

Imam Sadr Foundation (ISF) is a non-governmental non-profit organization that seeks to bring about social justice, change and equity by working closely with the local communities in Lebanon on health, education and promoting a culture of dialogue and reconciliation. The foundation is characterized by its social, cultural, and health interventions in the underserved areas of southern Lebanon and its delivery of services to remote areas through a network of permanent health and social care centres and mobile clinics.

For nearly half a century, the Imam Sadr Foundation has worked to improve the lives of tens of thousands of men and women throughout Lebanon. Whether by providing easily accessible health services for families assailed by the fallout of war, empowering women and orphans through occupational training programs and educational facilities, or creating strategic partnerships with political and social development organizations.

Summary of relevant work

The foundation feels a great responsibility in promoting mental health, and is well aware that a tremendous effort is needed until we reach a society that acknowledges mental health disorders. The Foundation has therefore included mental health in its strategic plan and will take responsibility for the follow-up on the progress, delivery of services, and the advocacy components.

In the socio-medical centres of ISF, multi-component services are provided, targeting patients of different nationalities from different locations in Lebanon and especially the peripheral areas. Through the previous years, ISF provided physical and mental health services, follow-up and social support to 1240 patients within its Integrated Mental Health System for Syrian Refugees and Hosting Communities' project.

ISF supports vulnerable groups, persons with disabilities, refugees and displaced people, which are considered to be at greater risk for developing mental health disorders and of being socially excluded, by scaling-up mental health and specialized services. Stigma and awareness are crucial issues in the fight to promote better mental health and physical care; therefore ISF is raising awareness and working towards providing the appropriate services.
