We believe that given a safe, supportive environment, individuals with severe mental health conditions will gain vital life skills on their journey to independence and wellbeing. With the collaboration of our community partners and extended family we provide a holistic approach for reintegration into the community.
We at Ippigusugiursavik located in an Inuit environment, believe that the individual recovery process must be in accordance with that environment. The recovery process must respect the rights, values and the culture of the person.
We provide services centered around the individual. It is the resident who participates in and defines his or her life project. Our role as intervener is to support the residents in their personal process toward autonomy and develop their full potential and self-esteem.
We work closely with the community to develop projects oriented toward work reintegration and de-stigmatization. Projects run and operated by residents work include a compost project, meals on wheels, on the land activities, and second-hand clothes retail.
