Mission
To lead the way in helping ordinary people understand and manage their own mental health, whatever their age and wherever they live.
Mental Health Foundation uses research and practical projects to help people survive, recover from and prevent mental health problems. The organization is unique in the way it works as they see mental health as more than a medical issue, recognizing that the way we think and feel is also influenced by our emotional make up, our social and family experiences and the way we respond in different ways to events in our lives.
The organization develops and runs research and delivery programs across the UK that gives them the evidence and expertise to understand what makes and keeps people mentally well and how to intervene earlier. The knowledge gathered from these programs is used to:
- improve policy and practice in mental health
- campaign to raise awareness and remove stigma
- provide high quality advice and information to help people better manage their mental health and wellbeing
- provide practical solutions to improve the quality and access to mental health services in the UK
Some of the topics the Mental Health Foundation works on include diet, exercise, friendship, parenting, stigma, mental health services and cultural diversity. Through their media work, information booklets, and online services, they reach millions of people every year.
