Open Briefing defends, strengthens and empowers those on the frontlines of civil society by keeping them and their partners safe and secure online and in the real world. Our international team provides high-impact training, consultancy and retained support across safety and security, digital security, and wellbeing and resilience, complemented by a unique intelligence and research capability.

Mission statement

We provide high-impact mentoring, capacity-building and technical assistance across safety and security, digital security and wellbeing and resilience. We also work extensively with the senior management teams and boards of international funders and NGOs.

Summary of relevant work

Our psychosocial support includes the provision of counselling, psychotherapy and Psychological First Aid to human rights defenders and other civic actors impacted because of their work. We also provide wellbeing risk assessments and action plans, Psychological First Aid training, family liaison officer supervision and training, and safeguarding audits and policy frameworks. Finally, we engage in philanthropic advocacy to increase grantmakers’ awareness of the necessity of wellbeing to effective and sustainable human rights movements.
