The mission of StrongMinds is to improve the mental health of African women. We are initially focused upon treating women in Africa who suffer from the most common mental illness: depression.

StrongMinds is the only organization focused solely on depression in a low-income country. We are guided by our goal to treat two million depressed African women by 2025, enabling these mentally ill individuals and their families to lead healthy, productive, and satisfying lives. Our talk therapy groups are run by Mental Health Facilitators using an enriched curriculum with specific role playing activities, along with interactive visuals and charts, to guide the women through the three phases of therapy to relieve their depression symptoms and prevent future depressive episodes.
