Alessandro Massazza
I am a PhD student in Psychology at University College London. I am broadly interested in the mental health consequences of complex emergencies. Specifically I am researching cognitive mechanisms behind the development of intrusive memories among earthquake survivors in Italy. I have previously worked on the 2011 Great Eastern Japan earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear disaster. I am also currently involved in ongoing research projects on the mental health consequences of armed conflict in Palestine (West Bank) and of urban violence in Brazil (São Paulo). I am now briefly working as a consultant in the Mental Health and Substance Abuse unit at the World Health Organisation HQ in Geneva.
