Dan Chisholm
Dan is the Programme manager for Mental Health in the WHO Regional Office for Europe, based in Copenhagen, Denmark. He works closely with WHO's Headquarters Office and Country Offices, as well as with national and international partners, to provide technical support in the area of mental health to the 53 countries making up WHO's European Region .. or to as many of them as possible anyway! Key areas of work concern development of mental health policies, plans and laws, reforms to mental health services, mental health promotion and suicide prevention and strengthening information systems, all of which represent central elements of the European and Global mental health action plans. Formerly he was a health systems adviser in the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse at WHO's headquarters office, where he worked on the development of new methods, tools and knowledge with respect to scaling-up and strengthening mental health services or systems. He has been an active collaborator in MHIN since its inception.
