Brief Biography: 

Dr. Chinchu C. is a distinguished psychologist, researcher, podcaster, and author with over 15 years of experience in training and science communication. He also has a decade of experience in social science research and advocating for sustainable development.

Dr. Chinchu has received numerous accolades for his work, including the Researchers in the Global South (RGS) award and the Small Scale Events grant from the Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues (SPSSI) in 2022. He was only the second Indian psychologist to receive the RGS grant and the first Indian to receive the Small Scale Events grant. He was also placed second in the global paper competition on Open Science and Sustainable Development sponsored by UNESCO, UN MGCY, and the Journal of Science Policy and Governance (JSPG). In 2023 he was awarded the Commendation award by the Society for the Improvement of Psychological Science (SIPS) for popularising Psychological Science.

His research interests include mental health, sustainable development, and gender and sexuality. Dr. Chinchu has published extensively in journals, books, and popular writings on various topics. He has also served as a Principal Investigator and Co-Investigator on research projects funded by national and international agencies in areas such as rehabilitation, education, marginalization, and skill development. Moreover, he is a peer reviewer for international journals and publishers and a contributor to open knowledge initiatives.

In addition to his research, Dr. Chinchu has conducted workshops and Faculty Development Programmes (FDPs) on a range of topics, including research methodology and self-development. He is a member of professional organizations such as the American Psychological Association (APA), World Association for Sexual Health, and the Society for the Improvement of Psychological Science (SIPS), and he is actively involved in mental health advocacy and research promotion through the non-profit collective Association for Social Change, Evolution, and Transformation (ASCENT). He also participates in the People’s Science Movement.

Dr. Chinchu creates engaging content such as podcasts, videos, and tutorials on topics related to psychology, research, and mental health. He is also committed to promoting best practices and ethical conduct in social science research. He has completed his Post Doctoral research at the Women's Studies Centre, Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT). He holds a Ph.D. in Psychology, PG degrees in Applied Psychology and Sociology, and has qualified UGC NET in Psychology, Sociology, Women's Studies, Criminology, Comparative Study of Religions, and Human Resource Management, with JRF qualifications in Psychology and Women's Studies.

Currently, Dr. Chinchu is an Assistant Professor at the Centre for Women's Studies at Pondicherry University. Previously, he served as a visiting faculty member at the National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS) and Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU).
