Francois Cleophas

I am a social scientist whose focus field is cultural history with an emphasis on sport. I obtained my Phd in 2009. It was a historical study on the history of physical education and physical culture in marginalized communities in Cape Town, South Africa. Since then I edited one book, Exploring decolinising themes in SA Sport history: Issues and challenges. I published over 30 academic articles in peer reviewed journals and have three book chapters. I am currently working on a monograph on the history of cricket in Cape Town's marginalized communities. Since 2018 I served as an executive member of the ISHPES.
