Brief Biography: 

J. JAIME MIRANDA, MD, MSc, PhD, FFPH, is Research Professor at the Department of Medicine, School of Medicine and Director of the CRONICAS Center of Excellence in Chronic Diseases, both at Universidad  Peruana Cayetano Heredia (UPCH) in Lima, Peru. His works brings together epidemiological and health policy aspects of chronic non-communicable diseases in low- and middle-income countries with emphasis on obesity, hypertension, and diabetes. Dr. Miranda is a Member of PLoS International Advisory Group, Councillor for Latin America & Caribbean of the International Epidemiological Association (2011-2014), and Co-Chair of the Joint Technical Steering Committee of the Global Alliance for Chronic Diseases. In 2012, he was elected as Fellow of Faculty of Public Health of the Royal College of Physicians of the United Kingdom. Dr. Miranda trained in medicine at UPCH and earned a PhD in epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (UK).
