Brief Biography: 

João's educational background includes a Bsc Geography (Universidade Nova de Lisboa/University of Aberdeen), MA in Development Studies (University of London), and Bsc Mental Health Nursing, (University of London). João has extensive experience of working as an inpatient RMN and Community-based MN nurse in Northwest, Central and South London (St Thomas' Hospital, South London & Maudsley NHS Trust & Central & Northwest London NHS Trust) and of volunteering abroad - including a work placement as a Mental Health Nurse Consultant with VSO in Sri Lanka from 2011 to 2013. João is currently one of the Founding Directors of UK based humanitarian charity Jaya Mental Health
