Brief Biography:

I was diagnosed schizophrenic in 1995 finally after four years of being in and out of mental institutions. For ten years I was on medication that successfully controlled my positive symptoms but was useless in controlling the negative symptoms. Since the medication was thankfully changed then I have been exponentially more functional and have been rebuilding my shattered life.  I joined SABDA a support group affiliated with FMHSA and have been involved in advocacy and education for them.  I intend volunteering with FMHSA very soon. I am interested in being active in making the voices of mental health sufferers heard.  We don't need to be spoken for by health professionals and caregivers only.  We need to brings our human stories and experiences into the light.  Only by showing that we are human, intelligent and lovable will we break the barriers of ignorance, stigma and even fear.  Aluta continua!
