Catherine (Pat)  Cannell, was born in Mutare, Zimbabwe in 1939, is a widow with two married daughters,and  a member of Greystone Park River of Life Church.

She hold the following qualifications: B.Soc.Sc. (University of Cape Town);Certificate of Qualification as a Professional Social Worker (University of Cape Town);Diploma in Teaching Students with Specific Learning Difficulties (Hornsby, London); Certificate in Teaching as a Foreign Language  (Inlingua); Certificate in Teaching English for Business (Inlingua).

After extensive experience serving as a social worker, teacher, and volunteer in various religious, community, and humanitarian organisations in Zimbabwe, Angola,Namibia, and Tajikistan, she is now with Hope College, Beira, Mozambique.

In Zimbabwe she has been recognized by the hospital board as a Friend of the Parirenyatwa Hospital, Harare, which is now carried out by a local team of volunteers which she monitors and joins in frequent visits to Zimbabwe. She is challenged by the need for church and other community groups to be educated, trained and involved in similar service to the mentally and physically challenged in Mozambique.
