I am a communications professional working to improve access to mental health information for youth in India. As the Communications Coordinator for It’s Ok To Talk at Sangath, I am presently working on a national youth mental health campaign, It’s OK Baat Karo/It’s Ok To Talk. This program engages young Indians in dialogue about mental health both online and on the ground, and launched the first Indian youth-focused mental health campaign, #ItsOkBaatKaro in April 2017. The campaign innovatively uses storytelling, digital media and social networking to enable young people to become more informed about mental health and become drivers of conversations about youth mental health in their own communities. I am responsible for implementing the communications and digital media strategy for the campaign and also work on strategy building, evaluation, public events and outreach. I actively work on building and implementing youth leadership programmes, workshops and trainings to improve mental health literacy and advocacy.
