Brief Biography: 

Vanessa is a freelance journalist and researcher focusing on humanitarian and human rights issues. Her research has covered diaspora politics during the wars in Bosnia and Kosovo, the socio-political history of the Arab Spring, and continues to spotlight the persecution of the Rohingya, a stateless minority in Burma.

Her journalism started with the Centre for Armed Violence Reduction on DDR (demobilisation, disarmament, and reintegration) for former child soldiers in Burma, and remains an international consultant on small arms and light weapons.

She has reported alongside an array of grassroot organisations whose work positively impacts sustainable development, peacebuilding, and conflict resolution.

Vanessa has degrees from the School of Oriental and African Studies (LLB) and University of Cambridge (BSc).
