Karwan-e-Hayat, Institute for Mental Health Care is a not-for-profit organization is active in caring for mentally ill indigent patients since its establishment in 1983. It is the only NGO in Karachi operating an inpatient mental health facility on a nonprofit basis and providing free psychiatric medical treatment and medicines to poor and mentally ill patients. It practices the latest psychiatric rehabilitation techniques so that patients can be reintroduced into the mainstream of life. Karwan-e-Hayat has three outlets for its facilities in Karachi and providing treatment and rehabilitation services to more than 55000 patients annually
