Maternal Depression and Early Childhood Growth in Developing Countries

Maternal Depression and Early Childhood Growth in Developing Countries

2011

Recent research on the relationship between maternal depressive symptoms and child stunting or underweight has produced inconsistent results. Two descriptive reviews have provided a summary of research findings but no quantitative synthesis of research results has been produced. This study's goals were to review systematically the literature on maternal depression and childhood growth in developing countries and to summarize and compare any associations found across populations using meta-analytical techniques.
