The theme of World Health Day, April 7th 2001, was to raise awareness, increase knowledge and change attitudes about mental health issues among the general public. The Day's events sought to challenge health providers and policy makers to improve services as well as ensure access to and equity in care. In addition, the Day was used to dismantle taboos and misconceptions which have been generally accepted for too long.
This report calls upon policymakers to work together to advocate for policy changes and attitude changes towards mental health practices.
