As part of the ‘Stories from the field’ blog series, a collaboration between MHIN and the World Health Organization, these videos highlight innovations in mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Project Burans - Uttarakhand, India

Project Burans is a mental health organisation working in partnership with the Emanuel Hospital Association to improve mental health care in communities in northern India. Project Manager Pooja Pillai shares how the organisation is collaborating with community leaders and the Police to assess needs on the ground and distribute food and hygiene products to marginalised communities.

Partners In Health - Sierra Leone

Partners In Health (PIH) supports Sierra Leone’s Psychiatric Teaching Hospital in Freetown as well as a primary care clinic and a mental health clinic in Kono District. Consultant Psychiatrist, Dr Mawuena Agbonyitor describes challenges and activities to continue mental health support for the organisation’s homeless patients. Enosh - The Israeli Mental Health Association

Lior Aviel Peretz is the National Manager of Supportive Housing Services at Enosh, Israel’s National Mental Health Association. Supported by the Ministry of Health, Enosh is the largest community-based mental health organisation in the country and works for the inclusion and rights of people with psychosocial disabilities. To continue care during the pandemic, team members and service user volunteers helped to deliver food baskets and medications during lockdown. Lior emphasises the importance of coordination and unified messaging in mental health care responses to COVID-19.
